Back from GW2, Looking for some answers
Hi,
I am looking to start over with a new account (because I want to) 1) If I transfer items from my old account - Ecto, Minatures etc will this raise suspicion with Anet? 2) Is there any plan to shut GW1 servers down in the next couple of years? 3) How active is GW1 now? 4) Any major changes since 2012? Heya, Welcome back. As for your questions;
1) If I transfer items from my old account - Ecto, Minatures etc will this raise suspicion with Anet? - Probably not if you are playing both accounts from the same IP addresse. I quite often move stuff around between my accounts just because they are more organised that way. Although, please note, that I do not represent Anet in any way of course and this can only be answered 100% if at all by them. 2) Is there any plan to shut GW1 servers down in the next couple of years? - Not as far as we have heard at least. Again, this is only something Anet can tell you (or probably wont/cant tell themselves) 3) How active is GW1 now? - Not as active as it used to be, but there are still players around. Spamadan is usually reduced to 2 active US districts instead of 8+ US and 10+ active EU Districts over various languages like in the hay days. 4) Any major changes since 2012? - None as far as I can tell. The only sort of major change is the annual events such as Wintersday or Canthan New year are fully automated and the rewards are also selectable from all past rewards instead of a new one each year (With the exception of Canthan new year where you can also get the minipets which have not officially been available due to the zodiac years being in the future). |

I have multiple accounts and have no issues with transferring between them (also between my hubby's account and mine). You should have no issues.
As for #2...since (they say) we are basically on the same servers as gw2 and (they say) that gw uses so little space--when they shut down 2 they will probably shut down this one (so short answer: probably not any time soon). Only new thing was the 10th anniversary celebration and the balthazar weapons (you can read up on the wiki about these), think everything else has been in place since gw2 came out. so welcome back (you are not alone--there have been loads of people coming back in the last year or so).

I have always wanted to come back, really missed it, I am just one of these people who strive to have "the latest and greatest" but really for me GW1 is so much more fun and actually has an endgame and heroes who I can socialise with |

Don't know when the change came in but you can use all heroes in your party now. Even buy hero packs so you can use your own toons if you want in your party or just make instant level 20 PvP toons and register them for PvX characters' use.
There is a Wayfarers Holiday too where you visit 20 places (5 in each of the 3 campaigns plus eotn) and then can get a charr legionaire (war tank) summoning stone. Cost only a skill point per use so you can use it forever and is great addition for HM especially. Don't leave home without it. |

the last anniversary added new green weapons (may not be that useful in some cases, and will be customized to the char that takes it)
and added balthazar weapons, which you can get outside temple of balthazar and the zaishen chest drops 1 token to get such balthazar weapon the npc's of these balthazar weapons are always available next anniversaries, do 1 mission (with ot without bonus, and HM or NM dont matter) in each region, not campaign, region (ascalon, northern/southern shiverpeaks, kryta etc..... far shiverpeaks counts as 1 by itself, by the way) thought i'd add this to the rest we see here |
